Niagara rolls over Dundas, 5-2

The Niagara Riverhawks were firing on all cylinders against the Dundas Blues, and when the final buzzer sounded Riverhawks emerged with a 5-2 win.

Niagara got the win behind a great game by Brandon McLean, who had one goal and three assists. McLean scored on the power play 7:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Niagara. The Riverhawks had taken the advantage when Dundas' Carson MacRae got sent off for interference. Dante Zawadzki provided the assist.

Niagara pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 30 penalty minutes.

The Riverhawks stifled the Blues' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Niagara forced Dundas goalie Jeff Maxwell to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Niagara additionally got points from Dawson Ethier, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Alex Cipriano, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Andrew Somerville also scored for Niagara. In addition, Niagara received assists from Lucas Marcon and Danny Gallagher, who contributed one each.

The Blues' offense operated below their season average. Dundas averages 4.1 goals per game. The Blues struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 44 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

Sebastian Iannone made 25 saves for the Riverhawks on 27 shots. Dundas' Maxwell stopped 27 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Blues registered zero goals on six power play opportunities.
