Hagersville downs Dunnville, 5-2Dunnville Memorial Arena Fri, Oct 02, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Hagersville Hawks took home the 5-2 victory over the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:32 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Hagersville stifled Dunnville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jr. Mudcats were unable to stop the Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Hagersville eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The Hawks were hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled six minors and two majors for 22 minutes in penalty time. Hagersville was helped by MIchael Arch, who registered one goal and one assist. Arch scored 18:34 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Hagersville. Derek Friesen assisted on the tally. Hagersville also had goals scored by Jake Reichheld, who had two and Cole Dezainne and Dan Mederios, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Hagersville were Shaun General, who had one and Austin Cairns, who had two. Dunnville's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Jr. Mudcats surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. Dunnville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Hawks to score on any of their seven power plays. The Jr. Mudcats forced Hagersville goalie Steven Tiemey to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Dunnville was helped by Damien Lalonde, who finished with one goal. Lalonde scored 19:36 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Hagersville. Connor Hannigan picked up the assist. Jake MacDougall also scored for Dunnville. In addition, Dunnville received assists from Aaron Krajcir, who had one. The Hawks' Tiemey stopped 32 shots out of the 34 that he faced. For Hagersville, Bailey Fletcher and Domenic Evangelista were ejected from the contest. Brennan Head made 31 saves for the Jr. Mudcats on 35 shots. Dunnville registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. The Jr. Mudcats ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Travis Sheldrake was ejected from the game.
