Grimsby uses fast start to beat Port Dover, 11-3

The Grimsby Peach Kings jumped out to a five-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the Port Dover Sailors, 11-3.

Mike Mikula had one goal and two assists to lead Grimsby. Mikula scored 4:06 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Grimsby. Trevor McEneny picked up the assist.

The Peach Kings pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 22 penalty minutes.

Grimsby's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Port Dover power plays. The Peach Kings surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Grimsby averages 4.3 goals per contest.

Grimsby additionally got points from Kyle Kozielski, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Joshua Kozielski, who also registered one goal and one assist, Matthew Jambrosich, who also racked up two goals and one assist, and Curtis Conrad, who also had one goal and two assists. Grimsby also had goals scored by Brennan Smith, who had three and Nicholas Purves and Daniel Scotland, who scored one goal each. In addition, Grimsby received assists from Addison DeTullio, who had two, Dillon Cipretti and Gaetano DAlesio, who each chipped in one, and Garnet McComber and James Thorpe, who contributed three each.

Port Dover excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. The Sailors were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 24 penalty minutes.

Port Dover was led by Eric Mueller, who registered one goal and two assists. Mueller scored 5:38 into the second period to make the score 6-2 Grimsby. Braden Roberts assisted on the tally. Port Dover also got a goal from Eric O`Keefe as well.

Jeremy Currie recorded 19 saves for the Peach Kings. For Grimsby, McEneny was ejected from the game. Rene Kloepfer rejected 14 shots on goal for the Sailors.
