Dundas pulls away in second, rolls over Simcoe, 7-3

The Simcoe Storm allowed the Dundas Blues to net four goals during the second period and fell, 7-3.

Dundas' penalty kill excelled, as the Blues gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 17:14 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Dundas forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. The Blues surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game. Simcoe was unable to stop Dundas from sending pucks towards the net, and the Blues eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Dundas was helped by Chris Cudek, who finished with one goal and one assist. Cudek scored 2:06 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Dundas. Dan Pelosini picked up the assist. Dundas additionally got points from Pelosini, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Justin Homer, who also registered one goal and one assist, Liam Buckley, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Cam McConnell, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Dundas also got a goal from Mitch Moriarity as well. More assists for Dundas came via Carson MacRae, who had one, Jamison Buck, who had two, and Domenic Procopio, who had three.

The Storm's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game Simcoe had been spending in the box. The Storm kept the Blues' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jeff Maxwell made 32 saves on 35 shots.

Simcoe was led by Dakota Culbert, who tallied two goals. Culbert scored the first of his two goals at 6:21 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Dundas. Culbert's next tally made the score 5-2 Dundas with 15:18 left in the third period. The Storm had gotten the advantage when Dundas' Damon Cumming was sent off for tripping. Zak Culbert assisted on the tally. Riley Wilson also scored for Simcoe. In addition, Simcoe received assists from Ray Munroe and Ben Woods, who contributed one each.

The Blues registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For Dundas, Cumming was ejected from the game. Simcoe's Nathen McKinnon stopped 32 shots out of the 39 that he faced. The Storm ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Woods was ejected from the game.
