La Crosse takes care of Rochester early, wins 6-3

La Crosse opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 6-3 win over Rochester.

Patrick Gazich had a great game for La Crosse, netting two goals. Gazich found the back of the net on the power play 14:06 into the first period to make the score 2-0 La Crosse and again while 18:22 into the first to make the score 4-0 La Crosse.

La Crosse's offense rang up 41 shots on Rochester's net. La Crosse could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. La Crosse got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

La Crosse also got points from Ben Johnson, who also registered one goal and one assist, Sam Wenner, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Taylor Trapp, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Dylan Goggin also scored for La Crosse. In addition, La Crosse received assists from Daniel Toycen, who had two and Jared Bromberg, Matt Wolter, Hunter Breza, Ben Henderson, Jerame Schuetzle, and Will Graves, who each chipped in one.

Rochester forced La Crosse goalie Graves to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Rochester struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 34 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays. Rochester was held back by its power play unit, which tallied two goals on nine chances.

La Crosse's Graves stopped 33 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Kyle Plantz made 35 saves for Rochester on 40 shots.
