Henderson's hat trick boosts Wisconsin over Rochester, 6-4

Rochester could not stop Wisconsin's Peter Henderson, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-4 win.

Henderson notched his first tally 28 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 10:49 into the second and at 12:12 into the third.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 18:50 into the second period. Six fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Wisconsin was often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and three majors for 53 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 22.0 minutes per game Wisconsin had been spending in the box. Wisconsin's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Rochester power plays. Wisconsin kept Rochester's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kyle Plantz made 31 saves on 37 shots.

Wisconsin also got points from Ben Ratner, who also racked up one goal and three assists. Wisconsin also got a goal from Will Reedy as well. In addition, Wisconsin received assists from Ethan Luck, who had one and Thomas Hanson and Russel Barone, who each chipped in two.

Rochester forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 12 minors and two majors for 64 minutes in penalty time. Rochester surpassed its season average of 31.0 penalty minutes per game. Wisconsin was unable to stop Rochester from sending pucks towards the net, and Rochester eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Rochester was led by Dominik Bogdzuil, who tallied two goals and one assist. Bogdzuil scored the first of his two goals at 10:52 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Vladislav Shipota picked up the assist. Bogdzuil's next tally made the score 6-5 Wisconsin with 57 seconds left in the third period. Rochester additionally got points from Trey McMillen, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Rochester also had goals scored by Ben Koester and Justin Sweet, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Rochester were Hunter Heightland, Griffen Buck, Colby DeCarlo, Duell Buck, and Evan Sabo, who contributed one each.

Max McConnell recorded 32 saves for Wisconsin. Wisconsin registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Wisconsin ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Barone was ejected from the game. For Rochester, Dan Trageser was ejected from the game.
