Wooster blows out Pittsburgh, 4-0

Wooster had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-0 win over Pittsburgh.

Wooster was paced by Jason Watts, who registered one goal. Watts scored 1:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wooster. Noah Keener provided the assist.

Wooster forced Pittsburgh's goalies to work in net, taking 31 shots and forcing 27 saves. Jacob Stack made 22 stops and Adam Provaznik made five. Wooster managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Wooster finished below its season average of 28.0 penalty minutes per game.

Wooster also got points from Rubin Chavarria, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Wooster also had goals scored by Tyler Groth and Christian Miller, who each put in one. In addition, Wooster received assists from Mike Zenone, who had two and Chris Hubbard, Mike Ragone, and Brandon Scholze, who contributed one each.

Pittsburgh's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Wooster power plays. Pittsburgh did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Pittsburgh puts an average of 2.9 pucks into the net per game.

Wooster's Joe Morgan stopped 19 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Pittsburgh incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
