Atlanta downs Cincinnati in overtime, 6-5 (OT)Center Ice Arena Fri, Feb 26, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
Colin OConnor gave Atlanta a 6-5 (OT) victory over Cincinnati when he scored 4:37 into the extra period. Atlanta came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Atlanta was down 3-0 after a goal by Cincinnati's Albert Janele at 5:22 in the second period. Atlanta knotted things up at 5-5 on a goal by Kyle Rimbach at 19:05 in the third period. Rimbach had a great game for Atlanta, netting two goals. Atlanta put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cincinnati to score on any of its three power plays. Atlanta's offense rang up 73 shots on Cincinnati's net. Atlanta got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. Atlanta could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Atlanta additionally got points from Andrew Cooley, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Arturas Laukaitis, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and OConnor, who also had one goal and one assist. Ryan Dumond also scored for Atlanta. In addition, Atlanta received assists from Jack Cleaver, who had two and Riley Hummitsch, Philip Pugliese, Steve MacIver, Dylan Wattles, and Ross Bartlett, who each chipped in one. Cincinnati was led by Arsenii Vashchuk, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Vashchuk scored 12:56 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Cincinnati. Janele provided the assist. Cincinnati also got points from Janele, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Kyle Kinnaman, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cincinnati also had goals scored by Jacob Friedman and Tyler Simon, who scored one goal each. More assists for Cincinnati came via Trevor Veneklase, who had two and Hunter Schneider, Samuel Dorff, Justin Bioni, Rory Callihan, and Cobin Sanborn, who contributed one each. Atlanta took out Corey Boettcher after he had made 10 saves and installed Aleksandr Zendejas in goal, where he finished with 13 saves and the win. Atlanta registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Tyler Geloneck made 67 saves for Cincinnati on 73 shots. Cincinnati incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
