Cincinnati's Williams deadly on offense in 8-2 win against Evansville

Cincinnati relied on the scoring touch of Brenden Williams, who netted two goals, to beat Evansville, 8-2.

Williams' tallies came at 7:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cincinnati and 17:55 into the first to make the score 2-0 Cincinnati.

Cincinnati's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and two majors for 44 minutes in penalty time. Cincinnati surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. Cincinnati excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Cincinnati's goal total was higher than its season average. Cincinnati averages 2.9 goals per game.

Cincinnati additionally got points from Albert Janele, who also tallied one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Trevor Veneklase, who also had one goal and one assist, and Arsenii Vashchuk, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Cincinnati also had goals scored by Marc Anderson and Rory Callihan, who each put in one. In addition, Cincinnati received assists from Jacob Friedman, who had two and Hunter Schneider, Justin Bioni, James Frantz, and Shawn Moody, who contributed one each.

Evansville was helped by Cedric Calhoun, who registered one goal. Calhoun scored 9:55 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Cincinnati. Scott Jacobson picked up the assist. Evansville also got a goal from Brandon Rozema as well. More assists for Evansville came via Steven Rutherford and Zach Faith, who each chipped in one.

Daniel Dolliver recorded 21 saves for Cincinnati. Cincinnati registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Evansville's Bryson Lindenburgh stopped 20 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Evansville ended with 38 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors.
