Tellstrom leads Metro over West Michigan, 7-4Fraser Hockeyland Sat, Feb 20, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
Mathias Tellstrom had two goals and one assist to lead Metro to a 7-4 victory over West Michigan. Tellstrom scored at 2:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Metro and again while 6:51 into the second to make the score 3-2 Metro.Metro pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes. Metro forced West Michigan's goaltenders to work without much rest, firing 49 shots and forcing 42 saves. Samuel Woznicki made 23 stops and Maxwell Barr made 19. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Metro also got points from David Chavis, who also finished with one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Jacob Gleason, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Kevin Shand, who also had one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Metro included Robert Flannery and Matt Dempsey, who each put in one. In addition, Metro received assists from Cam Schwartz, Pearce Vance, and Jacob Drinkard, who contributed one each and Michael Tratar and Devin Kelly, who each chipped in two. West Michigan kept Metro's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kameron Limburg made 28 saves on 32 shots. West Michigan was helped by Mitch Campbell, who racked up one goal. Campbell scored 1:13 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Metro. Tyler McMahon assisted on the tally. Curtis Carlson also scored for West Michigan. Other players who recorded assists for West Michigan were Zach Hand, TJ Krajewski, and Devin Farkas, who contributed one each and Brendon Block and Corey Siwula, who each chipped in two. Metro registered one goal on three power play opportunities. West Michigan incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
