Billings tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but Gillette held on for a 4-2 victory. A goal by Nick Scherbinin put Gillette up 4-1 in the second period, but Billings pulled to within two on Bryan Miller's tally 24 seconds into the third period. Gillette was paced by Riley Holwegner, who registered one goal and one assist. Holwegner scored on the power play 8:09 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Gillette. Gillette had gotten the advantage when Billings' Zach Heiser was sent off for interference. Tristen Leberknight picked up the assist. Gillette's offense rang up 41 shots on Billings' net.
