Istre's big game bests Euless in 6-1 Louisiana win

Jacob Istre had two goals and three assists to lead Louisiana to a 6-1 victory over Euless.

Istre found the back of the net 57 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Louisiana and again while 2:54 into the first to make the score 2-0 Louisiana.

Euless was stymied by Louisiana's netminder Santeri Seppinen, who stopped 35 shots during the victory. Seppinen certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 4.97 entering the contest.

Louisiana excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Louisiana found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Louisiana averages 2.3 goals per game.

Louisiana also got points from Miko Siren, who also registered three goals and one assist. Ian Hale also scored for Louisiana. More assists for Louisiana came via Davis VanGemerden, who had three and Mitch Dolese and Joshua Jorajuria, who contributed one each.

Euless stifled Louisiana's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Euless forced Louisiana goalie Seppinen to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Euless was led by Benjamin Kraus, who scored the team's only goal. Kraus scored 15:58 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Louisiana. Quincy Childress picked up the assist.

Louisiana incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Thomas Bailey made 19 saves before being replaced by Joshua Beatty, who took the loss and made one save. Euless ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
