Southern Tier wins tough contest against Pittsburgh, 4-2Jamestown Fri, Feb 19, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Southern Tier escaped with a 4-2 victory over Pittsburgh. Southern Tier gained the winning advantage on a goal by Cameron Pries 9:32 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer. Pries had two goals to lead Southern Tier to victory. Southern Tier forced Pittsburgh's goalies to work all game long, launching 35 shots and forcing 31 saves. Daniel Lee made 16 stops and Jacob Stack made 15. Others who scored for Southern Tier included Luke Grossman and Jacob Tota, who each put in one. In addition, Southern Tier received assists from Joshua Malin, who had two and Joseph Gerace, Hunter Kepple, Nicholas Wilcox, and Nathan Butkowski, who contributed one each. Pittsburgh was helped by Perry Shiring, who grabbed one goal. Shiring scored on the power play 11:36 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Pittsburgh had taken the advantage when Southern Tier's Tota got sent off for interference. Dominick Glavach picked up the assist. Nicholas Lyon also scored for Pittsburgh. Other players who recorded assists for Pittsburgh were Elijah Williams, Anthony Szurlej, and Gavin Cummings, who each chipped in one. Southern Tier's Ryan Pascarella stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Southern Tier incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Pittsburgh incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
