Metro penalty kill dominates in 5-2 defeat of Toledo

Despite having to fight off several power plays, Metro was able to defeat Toledo, 5-2.

Metro was led by Jacob Drinkard, who had one goal and one assist. Drinkard scored 11:39 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Metro. Cam Schwartz picked up the assist.

Metro kept Toledo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Cody Gibson made 29 saves on 34 shots.

Metro also got points from Schwartz, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Mathias Tellstrom also scored for Metro. Other players who recorded assists for Metro were Kevin Shand, who had two and Stefan Boskovic, Pearce Vance, Michael Tratar, Chase Sereno, and Graham Day, who contributed one each.

Toledo excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Toledo was helped by Josh Somers, who tallied one goal and one assist. Somers scored on the power play 16:32 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Metro. Toledo had gained a power play chance when David Chavis was whistled for cross checking. Isaiah Crawford provided the assist. Toledo additionally got points from Crawford, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Toledo came via Ricky Kwapich and Ben Hamilton, who each chipped in one.

Kameron Limburg made 17 saves for Metro on 19 shots. Metro incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Toledo totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. Toledo ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Josh Smith was ejected from the game.
