Wooster holds on for 2-1 win against Southern Tier

Southern Tier tried its best to erase a two-goal deficit, but Wooster would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1.

A goal by Brad Sneed put Wooster up 2-0 in the second period, but Southern Tier pulled to within one on Nicholas Wilcox's tally 4:28 into the third period.

Wooster was led by goalie Joe Morgan, who finished with 45 saves while allowing one goal. Morgan certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.22 entering the contest.

Wooster forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 12 minors and one major for 49 minutes in penalty time. Wooster surpassed its season average of 31.0 penalty minutes per game. Wooster stifled Southern Tier's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Southern Tier was unable to stop Wooster from sending pucks towards the net, and Wooster eventually piled up 59 shots on goal.

Nick Mooney also scored for Wooster. More assists for Wooster came via Will Schober and Tyler Houmard, who contributed one each.

Southern Tier's offense rang up 46 shots on Wooster's net. Southern Tier's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Southern Tier finished with 22 penalty minutes. Southern Tier's power play unit failed to produce, and was held to zero goals on 11 chances.

Other players who recorded assists for Southern Tier were Jacob St. Andre, who had one.

Wooster registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. For Wooster, Jason Watts was ejected from the game. Timothy OSullivan made 57 saves for Southern Tier on 59 shots.
