Point Mallard takes care of Euless early, wins 6-1

Point Mallard opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 6-1 win over Euless.

Point Mallard got the win on the strength of a great game by Justin Dunn, who had two goals and one assist. Dunn scored the first of his two goals at 57 seconds into the first period to make the score 2-0 Point Mallard. Grant Dukus provided the assist. Dunn's next tally made the score 6-1 Point Mallard with 15:05 left in the third period. Dukus assisted on the tally.

Point Mallard forced Euless' goalies to work all game long, launching 50 shots and forcing 44 saves. Thomas Bailey made 17 stops and Joshua Beatty made 27. Point Mallard managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Point Mallard ended up below its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game.

Point Mallard additionally got points from Dukus, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Jake Champaign, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Point Mallard included Jake Cox and Cameron Hamblett, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Point Mallard were Matt Goodman and Justin Clark, who contributed one each and Josh Hamilton and Matt Darnell, who each chipped in two.

Euless put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Point Mallard to score on any of its three power plays.

Brandon Wade also scored for Euless. In addition, Euless received assists from Aaron Wade and Kyle Dudley, who contributed one each.

Point Mallard's starting goalie, Cooper Seedott, made 12 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Gary Glassman, who stopped five shots. Euless incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
