Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Toledo defeated Wooster in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO). The shootout featured six attempts between both teams. Wooster got a shootout goal from Daniel Nugent. In addition to the clincher, Toledo got a shootout goal from Tyler Zalecki.Toledo saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Toledo made the score 3-1 on a power play goal by Tristin Snyder at 7:42 in the third period. Wooster evened things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Brandon Scholze at 19:41 in the third period. Toledo was led by Nick Papandrea, who finished with one goal. Papandrea scored on the power play 9:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toledo. Toledo had taken the advantage when Wooster's Steven Frankel got sent off for interference. Josh Somers provided the assist. Toledo's offense rang up 42 shots on Wooster's net. Team could not crack Wooster's penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having 14 opportunities to play with the man advantage. Toledo could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Toledo additionally got points from Zalecki, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Snyder, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Toledo received assists from Ricky Kwapich and Ben Hamilton, who contributed one each. Wooster's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Wooster finished with 42 penalty minutes. Wooster also got a goal from Trenton Mulnix as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wooster were Rubin Chavarria, who had two and Brad Sneed, Tyler Groth, Christian Miller, and Carmon Teel, who each chipped in one. Cody Gibson recorded 25 saves for Toledo. Wooster registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
