Yellowstone and Gillette were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Yellowstone made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Nick Greene's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Justin Berezinski had two goals to lead Yellowstone to victory. Berezinski found the back of the net 2:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Yellowstone and again while 19:10 into the third to make the score 5-3 Yellowstone.

Yellowstone got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Yellowstone also had goals scored by Hunter Ruschmeyer and Nicholas Elliot, who each put in one. In addition, Yellowstone received assists from Reed Kelly, who had three, Matt Runyon, who had four, and Max Doner and Nick Pizzey, who each chipped in one.

Gillette managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Gillette ended up below its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game.

Gillette was led by Nick Stockert, who racked up one goal and one assist. Stockert scored 17:26 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Tristen Leberknight assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Gillette included Garrett Medina and Cade Boreing, who scored one goal each. More assists for Gillette came via Tyler Reble, Kyle Traux, and Brett Kramer, who contributed one each.

Yellowstone's Garret Matz stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Yellowstone incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Alex Feese rejected 23 shots on goal for Gillette. Gillette registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
