Nicolai's hat trick boosts Billings over Glacier, 7-0

Chris Nicolai netted a hat trick to lead Billings over Glacier, 7-0.

Nicolai notched his first tally 30 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 6:47 into the second and at 10:31 into the second.

Billings was boosted by Gage Overby, who turned in a shutout with 27 saves. Overby managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 4.55 prior to the game.

Billings forced Glacier's netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 60 shots and forcing 53 saves. Raymond Smith made 45 stops and Mikhail Pahrebets made eight. Billings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Billings' goal total was higher than its season average. Billings averages 2.7 goals per game.

Billings also got points from Dillon Steh, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Edward Hoppmann also scored for Billings. In addition, Billings received assists from Keith Gustin, who had three, Zach Heiser, Connor Melton, Cameron Birklid, and Mason Graves, who each chipped in one, and Roy Aharonovich and Tristan Henrichs, who contributed two each.

Glacier managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Glacier ended up below its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Glacier's offense operated below its season average. Glacier puts an average of 2.1 pucks into the net per game.

Billings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
