Metro holds on for 3-2 win against Toledo

Metro survived a determined comeback attempt by Toledo on the way to a 3-2 win.

Metro made the score 3-1 on a goal by Chas Distelrath at 5:48 in the second period, and Toledo got as close as 3-2 when Ricky Kwapich scored 10:03 into the third period.

Metro's penalty kill excelled, as Metro gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Metro did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Metro puts an average of 5.1 pucks into the net per game. Metro forced Toledo goalie Cody Gibson to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Others who scored for Metro included Devin Kelly and Kevin Shand, who each put in one. More assists for Metro came via David Chavis, Pearce Vance, Michael Tratar, Chase Sereno, Jason Recchia, and Graham Day, who each chipped in one.

Toledo was helped by Ben Hamilton, who tallied one goal. Hamilton scored short handed 3:44 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Metro. A hooking call on Isaiah Crawford put Toledo on the penalty kill. In addition, Toledo received assists from David Bogart and Tyler Zalecki, who contributed one each.

Austin Kane rejected 22 shots on goal for Metro. Metro incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Gibson recorded 30 saves for Toledo. Toledo incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
