Pittsburgh rides Provaznik to victory over Southern Tier, 4-1

Adam Provaznik had a standout game with 25 saves, and Pittsburgh beat Southern Tier 4-1.

Pittsburgh was led by Nicholas Lyon, who registered one goal. Lyon scored 45 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pittsburgh. Brian Grant assisted on the tally.

Pittsburgh stifled Southern Tier's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Pittsburgh forced Southern Tier goalie Ryan Forman to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Others who scored for Pittsburgh included Perry Shiring, Camron Smith, and Ryan Loebig, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Pittsburgh were Vincent Casale, who had two and Cedric Calhoun, Brian Dee, Auston Palumbo, and Gavin Cummings, who contributed one each.

Southern Tier put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Pittsburgh to score on any of its five power plays.

Southern Tier was led by Luke Grossman, who scored the team's only goal. Grossman scored 19:23 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Kyler Chartier picked up the assist.

Pittsburgh incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Southern Tier's Forman stopped 34 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Southern Tier incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Southern Tier ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ben Gallivan was ejected from the game.
