Toledo had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over West Michigan.

Toledo was led by Ben Hamilton, who registered one goal and one assist. Hamilton scored on the power play 9:51 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Toledo. Toledo had gained a power play chance when TJ Krajewski was whistled for holding. Shane Dunsmore picked up the assist.

Toledo kept West Michigan's goalie busy throughout the game, and Maxwell Barr made 47 saves on 52 shots. The defensemen of Toledo were also effective in West Michigan's zone, and came away with two goals.

Toledo also got points from David Bogart, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Austin Turner, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Josh Somers, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Toledo also got a goal from Tristin Snyder as well. More assists for Toledo came via Dan Hudy, who had one and Tyler Zalecki, who had three.

Toledo was unable to stop West Michigan from sending pucks towards the net, and West Michigan eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. West Michigan was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 48 penalty minutes.

West Michigan was helped by Trevor Temple, who registered one goal. Temple scored on the power play 14:07 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Toledo. A roughing penalty on Josh Smith had put West Michigan on the power play. Brendon Block assisted on the tally. Connor Henderson also scored for West Michigan. In addition, West Michigan received assists from Curtis Carlson, Chase Whallon, and Corey Siwula, who each chipped in one.

Cody Gibson rejected 30 shots on goal for Toledo. Toledo incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. West Michigan registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For West Michigan, Zach Hand was ejected from the game.
