Sugar Land wins tough contest against Texas, 3-2

Sugar Land and Texas were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Sugar Land made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and RC Randall's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Sugar Land was paced by Randall, who finished with one goal. Randall scored on the power play 6:41 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Sugar Land. Sugar Land earned a power play opportunity when Bryan Whelan was put in the box for hooking. Frank Muscarella picked up the assist.

Sugar Land excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Sugar Land additionally got points from Jonathan Adnell, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Luca Valenza also scored for Sugar Land. In addition, Sugar Land received assists from Dylan Dix, Jake Garman, and Trevor Wolf, who contributed one each.

Texas' offense operated below its season average. Texas puts an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game.

Texas was helped by Garrett Culps, who registered one goal. Culps scored 4:31 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Hunter Frado assisted on the tally. Texas also got a goal from Victor Ekk as well.

Ryan OToole recorded 26 saves for Sugar Land. Sugar Land incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tyler Myers made 19 saves for Texas on 22 shots. Texas ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Texas ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Bennett Weycker was ejected from the game.
