Bromberg leads La Crosse over Chicago, 7-1

Jared Bromberg had two goals and two assists to lead La Crosse to a 7-1 victory over Chicago.

Bromberg scored on the power play at 14:15 into the first period to make the score 2-0 La Crosse and again while 3:59 into the second to make the score 3-0 La Crosse.

La Crosse was led by goalie Andrew Wagner, who finished with 36 saves while allowing one goal. Wagner certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.71 entering the contest.

La Crosse excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. La Crosse kept Chicago's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alec Paloumpis made 43 saves on 50 shots. La Crosse surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, La Crosse averages 3.7 goals per contest. La Crosse got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed four goals during the game.

La Crosse additionally got points from Hunter Breza, who also registered one goal and one assist, Ben Henderson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Jerame Schuetzle, who also finished with one goal and one assist. La Crosse also had goals scored by Justin Edwards and Sam Wenner, who scored one goal each. In addition, La Crosse received assists from Dylan Goggin, who had three and Daniel Toycen, Toon De Schepper, Matt Wolter, and Daylon De Souza, who each chipped in one.

Chicago was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 33.0 minutes per game Chicago had been spending in the box. Chicago forced La Crosse goalie Wagner to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Chicago's penalty kill unit could not stop La Crosse's power play, which converted on three of five opportunities.

La Crosse ended with 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. La Crosse ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Toycen was ejected from the game. For Chicago, Matt Bukovsky was ejected from the game.
