Kelly's big game bests Evansville in 5-2 Atlanta win

Atlanta's Drew Kelly had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over Evansville.

Kelly scored at 13:06 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 5:30 into the third to make the score 3-2 Atlanta.

Atlanta's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Evansville power plays. Atlanta's offense rang up 36 shots on Evansville's net. The defensemen of Atlanta were also effective in Evansville's zone, and came away with two goals.

Atlanta also got points from Arturas Laukaitis, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Atlanta also had goals scored by Jacob Roers and Evan Camba, who scored one goal each. More assists for Atlanta came via Colin OConnor, who had two and Riley Hummitsch, Philip Pugliese, Steve MacIver, Alex Johanson, Jesse Brown, and Dylan Wattles, who contributed one each.

Evansville struggled on the penalty kill, allowing Atlanta to score two power play goals on three chances.

Evansville was helped by Kyle Nikles, who had one goal. Nikles scored 9:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Evansville. Brandon Bornkamp assisted on the tally. Evansville also got a goal from William Bonser as well. In addition, Evansville received assists from Scott Jacobson, who had one.

Atlanta's starting goalie, Corey Boettcher, made nine saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Parks Ownesby, who stopped six shots. Atlanta incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Evansville's Adam Conkling stopped 31 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Evansville incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
