Toledo relied on the scoring touch of Josh Somers, who netted two goals, to beat Southern Tier, 6-1.

Somers' tallies came on the power play at 1:12 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Toledo and 6:17 into the second to make the score 2-0 Toledo.

Toledo was led by goalie Jeremy Hamerquist, who finished with 29 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Hamerquist will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.27.

Toledo forced Southern Tier's goalies to work between the pipes, totaling 51 shots and forcing 45 saves. Ryan Forman made 41 stops and Timothy OSullivan made four. Toledo stifled Southern Tier's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Toledo surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Toledo averages 3.7 goals per game.

Toledo additionally got points from Ricky Kwapich, who also grabbed two goals and three assists and Tyler Zalecki, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Nick Nappi also scored for Toledo. In addition, Toledo received assists from Isaiah Crawford, who had two and David Bogart, Blake Mullins, Daniel Goodwin, Shane Dunsmore, and Tristin Snyder, who each chipped in one.

Southern Tier forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and two majors for 48 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game Southern Tier had been spending in the box.

Southern Tier also got a goal from Ben Gallivan as well. Other players who recorded assists for Southern Tier were Kyler Chartier, who had one.

Toledo incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Southern Tier registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. Team's Hunter Kepple and Jacob Tota were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
