Billings' comeback falls short, Bozeman wins 4-2

Bozeman, which led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Billings and clinched a 4-2 victory.

Bozeman led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Bozeman's Kegan Couture scored on the power play at 16:12 in the first period to put Bozeman up 3-0.

Bozeman's penalty kill excelled, as Bozeman gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Bozeman forced Billings goalie Brandon Brown to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Bozeman was helped by Nicholas Thompson, who racked up one goal. Thompson scored 2:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Bozeman. Zach Frasier picked up the assist. Bozeman additionally got points from Gunnar Mogck, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Couture, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Bozeman also got a goal from Casey Gobel as well. More assists for Bozeman came via Dylan Michaud, who had two and Brock Loser and Steven Nisbet, who contributed one each.

Billings was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 13.0 minutes per game Billings had been spending in the box.

Billings was helped by Chris Nicolai, who registered one goal and one assist. Nicolai scored 1:18 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Bozeman. Zach Heiser assisted on the tally. Billings also got points from Tristan Henrichs, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Billings received assists from Mason Graves, who had one.

Stephen Frank recorded 21 saves for Bozeman. Bozeman incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Billings' Brown stopped 30 shots out of the 34 that he faced.
