Wooster wins tough contest against Minnesota, 5-3Schwan SR-2 Thu, Dec 17, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Wooster escaped with a 5-3 victory over Minnesota. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Nick Mooney's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Wooster got the win with help from a great game by Mike Zenone, who had two goals and one assist. Zenone scored the first of his two goals at 11:52 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Wooster. Brad Sneed picked up the assist. Zenone's next tally made the score 5-3 Wooster with 1:04 left in the third period. Wooster also got points from Tyler Houmard, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Wooster were Rubin Chavarria, who had one and Will Schober, who had two. Minnesota's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Minnesota was helped by Tyler Leverty, who tallied one goal. Leverty scored 2:20 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Minnesota. Kyle Wendorf assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Minnesota included Lucas Mickelson and Luke Erickson, who each put in one. In addition, Minnesota received assists from Jacob Cox, Jacob Aberwald, and Alec Skar, who contributed one each. Wooster's Joe Morgan stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Wooster incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Isiah Dilley rejected 25 shots on goal for Minnesota. Minnesota incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
