Yellowstone beats Billings 6-2 as Greene gets hat trick

Billings could not stop Yellowstone's Nick Greene, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-2 win.

Greene's first goal came 9:05 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:54 into the first and at 4:40 into the third.

Yellowstone gained an early advantage, leading 4-0 by the end of the first period.

Yellowstone stifled Billings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Billings was unable to stop Yellowstone from sending pucks towards the net, and Yellowstone eventually piled up 48 shots on goal.

Yellowstone additionally got points from Curtis Greenbush, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Yellowstone also had goals scored by Hunter Ruschmeyer and Nicholas Elliot, who scored one goal each. More assists for Yellowstone came via Matt Runyon, who had two, Tony Dahlberg, who had three, and Vadym Nesteruk, Max Doner, Reed Kelly, and Manuel Manero, who contributed one each.

Billings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Yellowstone power plays.

Yellowstone took out Derrick LaCombe after he had made eight saves and installed Lance Knudson in goal, where he finished with 15 saves and the win. Yellowstone incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Billings' Gage Overby stopped 42 shots out of the 48 that he faced. Billings totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play.
