Breezy Point uses shootout to best Twin City, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Breezy Point defeated Twin City in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout.

Breezy Point came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Breezy Point was down 2-1 after a goal by Twin City's Zak Lambrecht at 11:06 in the third period. Breezy Point knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Ryan Mezera at 13:04 in the third period.

Breezy Point's penalty kill excelled, as Breezy Point gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Breezy Point stifled Twin City's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Breezy Point forced Twin City goalie Nathan Siclovan to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. Breezy Point could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Cory Dennis also scored for Breezy Point. In addition, Breezy Point received assists from Christian Lenzmeier, Jake Tomkowiak, Tyler Larwood, and Torin Foundos, who contributed one each.

Twin City did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Twin City puts an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game. Twin City could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Twin City was helped by Marc Sahli, who racked up one goal. Sahli scored 4:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Twin City. Ben Hersman provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Twin City were Paul Stehr, Alex Egle, and Yannick Zehnder, who each chipped in one.

Breezy Point's Christian Sanzottera stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Breezy Point registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Nathan Siclovan made 44 saves for Twin City on 46 shots.
