McKenna nets hat trick, leads Sugar Land to 6-3 win over Louisiana

Zac McKenna netted a hat trick to lead Sugar Land over Louisiana, 6-3.

McKenna's first goal came 5:01 into the second period. He then added goals at 17 seconds into the third and at 7:53 into the third.

Sugar Land pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 43 penalty minutes.

Sugar Land forced Louisiana goalie Sean Angle to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots. Sugar Land bested its season scoring average. This season, Sugar Land averages 3.2 goals per contest.

Sugar Land also got points from Alex Norwinski, who also registered one goal and two assists. Sugar Land also had goals scored by Keegan Chesnick and Chris Conlin, who scored one goal each. In addition, Sugar Land received assists from Jonathan Adnell, who had three and Michael Crowley, Luca Valenza, Matt Cozzan, Keith Allen, Matt DeNure, and Frank Muscarella, who each chipped in one.

Louisiana's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 15 minors and one major for 55 minutes in penalty time. Louisiana had been averaging 23.0 minutes in penalties per game.

Louisiana was led by Evan Hale, who tallied one goal. Hale scored 8:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Louisiana. Jeremy Brown picked up the assist. Louisiana additionally got points from Joshua Lodatto, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Louisiana included Jacob Istre and Ian Hale, who each put in one. More assists for Louisiana came via Tucker Alspaugh, who had one.

Sugar Land took out Tristan Collins after he had made two saves and installed Kevin Mackey in goal, where he finished with 17 saves and the win. Sugar Land registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. Angle recorded 38 saves for Louisiana. Louisiana registered one goal on seven power play opportunities.
