Helena downs Bozeman in overtime, 7-6 (OT)

Helena's John Greer scored 37 seconds into overtime to beat Bozeman, 7-6 (OT).

Helena nearly gave up a three-score lead. Helena made it 6-3 on a short handed goal by Jay Forbes at 9:26 in the third period. Bozeman got to within 6-5 on a goal by Zach Frasier at 15:35 in the third period.

Helena got the win behind a great game by Ryan Daugherty, who had two goals and one assist. Daugherty scored the first of his two goals at 17:25 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Helena. Tom Pratl provided the assist. Daugherty's next tally made the score 4-2 Helena with 8:09 left in the second period. Bryan Knesel assisted on the tally.

Helena forced Bozeman's goaltenders to work between the pipes, racking up 38 shots and forcing 31 saves. Stephen Frank made 15 stops and Benjamin Sakaria made 16. Helena surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Helena averages 3.6 goals per game. Helena could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game. The defensemen of Helena were also effective in Bozeman's zone, and came away with two goals.

Helena also got points from Wyatt Stotts, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Pratl, who also had one goal and one assist, and Greer, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Helena received assists from Blake Babineau, who had two and Johnny Bonta, Brandon Mills, Kyle Hayter, and Gavin Lubin, who contributed one each.

Helena was unable to stop Bozeman from sending pucks towards the net, and Bozeman eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

Bozeman was led by Dylan Michaud, who finished with two goals and two assists. Michaud scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 10:48 into the third period to make the score 6-4 Helena. A unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Daugherty had put Bozeman on the power play. John Dixon picked up the assist. Michaud's next tally on the power play made the score 6-6 with 2:13 left in the third period. Gunnar Mogck assisted on the tally. Bozeman additionally got points from Elliott Hopkins, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Steven Nisbet, who also had two goals and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Bozeman were Kegan Couture, who had two and Brock Loser and Nicholas Thompson, who each chipped in one.

Adam Ranck recorded 37 saves for Helena. Helena registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Bozeman incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Bozeman ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Dixon was ejected from the game.
