Gillette penalty kill dominates in 4-1 defeat of Billings

Gillette's penalty kill was superb, as Gillette survived multiple penalties to beat Billings, 4-1.

Gillette was led by Adam Maxfield, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Maxfield scored on the power play 15:52 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Gillette. Gillette had taken the advantage when Billings' Connor Melton got sent off for tripping. Alex King assisted on the tally.

Gillette stifled Billings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Gillette forced Billings goalie Brandon Brown to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Gillette additionally got points from King, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kyle Traux also scored for Gillette. In addition, Gillette received assists from Tristen Leberknight, Gennadi Zabeline, and Michael Doyle, who contributed one each.

Billings' offense was handcuffed by Gillette's defensive play, and Billings managed only 12 shots on goal during the game.

More assists for Billings came via Roy Aharonovich and Cameron Birklid, who each chipped in one.

Gillette's Stephen Wroe stopped 11 shots out of the 12 that he faced. Gillette totaled 38 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-6 on the power play. For Gillette, RJ Yusko was ejected from the game. Brown recorded 28 saves for Billings. Billings totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-6 on the power play.
