Point Mallard wins tough contest against Evansville, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Point Mallard escaped with a 5-3 victory over Evansville.

Point Mallard gained the winning advantage on a goal by Jake Champaign 15:07 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Champaign had a great game for Point Mallard, netting two goals.

Point Mallard put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Evansville to score on any of its three power plays. Point Mallard kept Evansville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Conkling made 58 saves on 63 shots.

Point Mallard additionally got points from Jake Cox, who also registered one goal and one assist, Josh Hamilton, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, and Matt Goodman, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Point Mallard came via Chandler Brown, who had one and Justin Dunn, who had two.

Evansville was helped by William Bonser, who had one goal. Bonser scored 4:33 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Evansville. Brandon Rozema picked up the assist. Evansville also got points from Michael Kelley, who also registered one goal and one assist and Brandon Bornkamp, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Evansville received assists from Zach Faith, who had one and Jon Grimm, who had two.

Gary Glassman made 25 saves for Point Mallard on 28 shots. Point Mallard totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Evansville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
