La Crosse survives Rochester comeback, wins 3-2

Rochester almost clawed its way back from a three-goal deficit, but La Crosse managed to pull out a 3-2 win in the end.

La Crosse led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when La Crosse's Hunter Breza scored short handed at 15:27 in the third period to put La Crosse up 4-1.

La Crosse pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

Rochester was unable to stop La Crosse from sending pucks towards the net, and La Crosse eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. Team could not crack Rochester's penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Rochester could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Rochester was helped by Trey McMillen, who finished with one goal. McMillen scored on the power play 15:44 into the third period to make the score 4-2 La Crosse. A tripping penalty on Matt Wolter had put Rochester on the power play. Colby DeCarlo assisted on the tally. Spencer Hadacek also scored for Rochester. Other players who recorded assists for Rochester were Griffen Buck, who had one.

Will Graves rejected 22 shots on goal for La Crosse. Rochester's Zach Mains stopped 40 shots out of the 43 that he faced. Rochester registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
