Atlanta outlasts Nashville, 4-3

Atlanta gutted out a close 4-3 win against Nashville.

Atlanta gained the winning advantage on a goal by Philip Pugliese 3:27 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Atlanta's penalty kill excelled, as Atlanta gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Atlanta was held below its usual level of production. Atlanta puts an average of 6.3 pucks into the net per game.

Atlanta was led by Alex Johanson, who had two goals. Johanson scored the first of his two goals at 10:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Atlanta. Kyle Rimbach picked up the assist. Johanson's next tally made the score 3-3 with nine seconds left in the second period. Atlanta earned a power play opportunity when Logan Orem was put in the box for boarding. Riley Hummitsch assisted on the tally. Colin OConnor also scored for Atlanta. More assists for Atlanta came via Artus Laukaitis and Alekandr Zendejas, who contributed one each.

Nashville kept Atlanta's goalie busy throughout the game, and Zendejas made 30 saves on 33 shots.

Nashville was helped by Trent Kulczyk, who registered two goals. Kulczyk scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 18:07 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Nashville had taken the advantage when Atlanta's Drew Kelly got sent off for roughing. Max Dorfman picked up the assist. Kulczyk's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 10:56 left in the second period. Kristers Petraskevis provided the assist. Nashville additionally got points from Dorfman, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Nashville were Peter Cabala, Dylan Schmidt, and Colton Anderson, who each chipped in one.

Atlanta incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Ricky Gonzalez recorded 21 saves for Nashville. Nashville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
