North Iowa beats Wisconsin 5-2 as Gravelle gets hat trick

Brett Gravelle netted a hat trick to lead North Iowa over Wisconsin, 5-2.

Gravelle notched his first tally 19:13 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:41 into the second and at 12:39 into the second.

North Iowa forced Wisconsin goalie Max McConnell to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

North Iowa also got points from Marshall Barnes, who also had one goal and one assist. North Iowa also got a goal from David Min as well. More assists for North Iowa came via Austin Jackson, who had three and Alec Nichols, Adam Orn, and Kohei Sato, who contributed one each.

Wisconsin could not produce up to its normal offensive output. Wisconsin averages 4.6 goals per game. North Iowa was unable to stop Wisconsin from sending pucks towards the net, and Wisconsin eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Wisconsin was helped by Jake McNamara, who finished with one goal. McNamara scored on the power play 7:55 into the second period to make the score 2-1 North Iowa. A slashing penalty on Mitch Parsons had put Wisconsin on the power play. Caleb Vosters picked up the assist. Taylor Dickert also scored for Wisconsin. In addition, Wisconsin received assists from Ethan Luck, who had one and Russel Barone, who had two.

David Johnson recorded 31 saves for North Iowa. North Iowa incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Max McConnell made 29 saves for Wisconsin on 34 shots. Wisconsin incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Wisconsin ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Clayton Brown was ejected from the game.
