Wooster vanquishes Metro in shootout, 3-2 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Wooster defeated Metro in a shootout 3-2 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams. Metro got a shootout goal from Kevin Shand. In addition to the clincher, Wooster got a shootout goal from Brad Sneed.

Wooster came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Wooster was down 2-1 after a goal by Metro's Matt Dempsey at 14:03 in the second period. Wooster knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Christian Miller at 1:19 in the third period.

Wooster's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Metro power plays. Wooster forced Metro goalie Kameron Limburg to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Wooster was helped by Jason Watts, who grabbed one goal. Watts scored 5:35 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Miller provided the assist. Wooster additionally got points from Miller, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Wooster received assists from Nick Tobey, who had one and Rubin Chavarria, who had two.

Metro put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Wooster to score on any of its three power plays. Metro's offense operated below its season average. Metro averages 4.3 goals per game. Wooster was unable to stop Metro from sending pucks towards the net, and Metro eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

Metro also got a goal from Michael Tratar as well. Other players who recorded assists for Metro were Jacob Drinkard, Mathias Tellstrom, Graham Day, and Shand, who each chipped in one.

Joe Morgan made 39 saves for Wooster on 41 shots. Wooster ended with 31 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Limburg recorded 29 saves for Metro. Metro ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
