Evansville tried its best to erase a two-goal deficit, but Peoria would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2. Peoria took a 3-1 lead during the second period, only to have Evansville storm back on a Jon Grimm goal 6:32 into the third period to pull to one goal down. Peoria was led by Levi Armstrong, who grabbed one goal. Armstrong scored 3:02 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Peoria. Jason Hoehn assisted on the tally. Peoria forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Peoria surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game. Peoria forced Evansville goalie Adam Conkling to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Peoria additionally got points from Austin Wisely, who also had one goal and one assist. Andrej Buchko also scored for Peoria. More assists for Peoria came via Aaron Siegrist and Thomas Kolaz, who contributed one each. Evansville kept Peoria's goalie busy throughout the game, and Nic Piech made 42 saves on 44 shots.
