Wisconsin rolls over Chicago, 12-3

Wisconsin had a nine-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 12-3 win over Chicago.

Wisconsin got the win with help from a great game by Ethan Luck, who had two goals and two assists. Luck scored the first of his two goals at 9:03 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wisconsin. Connor Boscaccy provided the assist. Luck's next tally made the score 11-1 Wisconsin with 14:48 left in the third period. Joe Perrelle assisted on the tally.

Chicago was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as Wisconsin was able to score five times while on the power play.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 17:57 into the second period. Fourteen fighting penalties were dished out along with six game misconducts.

Wisconsin's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and three majors for 67 minutes in penalty time. Wisconsin surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. Wisconsin forced Chicago's goaltenders to work without much rest, getting 75 shots and forcing 63 saves. Alec Paloumpis made 41 stops and Thomas Terance made 22. Wisconsin found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Wisconsin averages 4.8 goals per contest.

Wisconsin also got points from Perrelle, who also tallied two goals and one assist, Peter Henderson, who also finished with three goals and two assists to lead the team in points, and Russel Barone, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Wisconsin included Alec Artuso, Thomas Hanson, and Matthew Carr, who each put in one. More assists for Wisconsin came via Ben Ratner, who had two, Nick Miller, Zachary Ross, Taylor Dickert, and Matt Resch, who contributed one each, and Nathan Viberg and Jake McNamara, who each chipped in three.

Chicago racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and six majors for 120 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 36.0 minutes per game Chicago had been spending in the box. The defensemen of Chicago were also effective in Wisconsin's zone, and came away with two goals.

Chicago was led by Eric Arrigo, who racked up two goals and one assist. Arrigo scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 9:48 into the third period to make the score 12-2 Wisconsin. Chicago had gained a power play chance when McNamara was whistled for interference. Connor Senn provided the assist. Arrigo's next tally on the power play made the score 12-3 Wisconsin with 38 seconds left in the third period. Daniel Spano picked up the assist. Chicago also got a goal from Niko Moulakelis as well. In addition, Chicago received assists from Jake Borth, who had one.

Roni Sener made 14 saves for Wisconsin on 17 shots. For Wisconsin, Zac Shenderovsky, Viberg, and Barone were ejected from the contest. Chicago registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Team's Logan Fog, Kevin Ely, Stefan Vlad, and Matt Bukovsky were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
