Early goals doom Chicago, falls to Wisconsin, 12-1

Wisconsin jumped out to a four-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat Chicago, 12-1.

Wisconsin got the win with help from a great game by Ben Ratner, who had two goals and two assists. Ratner scored the first of his two goals at 4:15 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wisconsin. Thomas Hanson picked up the assist. Ratner's next tally made the score 8-0 Wisconsin with 4:21 left in the second period. Roni Sener provided the assist.

Wisconsin forced Chicago's goalies to work between the pipes, launching 64 shots and forcing 52 saves. Sergey Markelov made 32 stops and Alec Paloumpis made 20. Wisconsin bested its season scoring average. Wisconsin averages 4.4 goals per game.

Wisconsin also got points from Hanson, who also had four goals and two assists, Austin Lewis, who also registered two goals and one assist, Nathan Viberg, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Jake McNamara, who also had one goal and one assist. Wisconsin also had goals scored by Connor Boscaccy and Joe Perrelle, who scored one goal each. In addition, Wisconsin received assists from Nick Miller, who had one, Peter Henderson, who had three, and Matthew Carr and Russel Barone, who each chipped in two.

Wisconsin's defense shut down Chicago's forwards for much of the game, and Chicago got off only 12 shots during the contest.

Sener rejected 11 shots on goal for Wisconsin. Wisconsin incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Chicago incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
