Clark nets hat trick, leads Point Mallard to 6-4 win over Atlanta

Atlanta could not stop Point Mallard's Justin Clark, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-4 win.

Clark's first goal came 4:07 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:10 into the second and at 19:19 into the third.

The teams traded the lead four times and neither team could skate away and hide. Atlanta took its last lead at 17:29 in the second on a goal by Artus Laukaitis to make the score 4-3 Atlanta. Point Mallard took over the lead for good with a power play goal by Stephen Coulter 17:04 into the third to make the score 5-4.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Point Mallard also got points from Josh Hamilton, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Point Mallard were Jake Cox, Justin Dunn, and Johnathan Meakins, who contributed one each and Matt Goodman and Jake Champaign, who each chipped in two.

Atlanta did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Atlanta puts an average of 6.1 pucks into the net per game.

Atlanta was helped by Alex Johanson, who registered two goals and one assist. Johanson scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 10:28 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Atlanta earned a power play opportunity when Coulter was put in the box for tripping. Kyle Rimbach provided the assist. Johanson's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 5:45 left in the second period. Atlanta had gotten the advantage when Point Mallard's Matt Darnell was sent off for interference. Laukaitis assisted on the tally. Atlanta additionally got points from Laukaitis, who also had one goal and two assists. Atlanta also got a goal from Philip Pugliese as well.

Point Mallard incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Atlanta incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
