Rochester rides Mains to victory over La Crosse, 2-1Green Island Ice Arena Fri, Nov 13, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Rochester relied on the sparkling performance of Zach Mains in net to grab a 2-1 win against La Crosse. Rochester was led by Evan Sabo, who tallied one goal. Sabo scored 2:26 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Rochester. Dominik Bogdzuil provided the assist. Rochester stifled La Crosse's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Rochester also got a goal from Trey McMillen as well. In addition, Rochester received assists from Andrew Gates, Dan Trageser, and Spencer Hadacek, who each chipped in one. La Crosse put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Rochester to score on any of its six power plays. La Crosse did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. La Crosse averages 3.9 goals per game. Rochester was unable to stop La Crosse from sending pucks towards the net, and La Crosse eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. La Crosse could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game. La Crosse was led by Mick Nisbet, who scored the team's only goal. Nisbet scored short handed 14:18 into the second period to make the score 1-1. La Crosse was on a disadvantage when Jerame Schuetzle went off the ice for roughing. Ben Henderson assisted on the tally. Rochester's Mains stopped 35 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Rochester incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Garret Matz recorded 17 saves for La Crosse. La Crosse registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
