Atlanta opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 9-4 win over Cincinnati. Atlanta got the win thanks to a great game by Artus Laukaitis, who had two goals and three assists. Laukaitis scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 16:00 into the first period to make the score 5-1 Atlanta. Cincinnati's starting goalie, Brian Tempel, made 18 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Timothy OSullivan, who stopped three shots. Cincinnati incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
