Pittsburgh vanquishes Wooster in shootout, 3-2 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Pittsburgh defeated Wooster in a shootout 3-2 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured four attempts between both teams. Wooster's shootout goal was scored by Will Schober. Pittsburgh also got a shootout goal from Camron Smith.

Pittsburgh overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Pittsburgh trailed 2-1 after a short handed goal by Wooster's Tyler Houmard at 16:44 in the second period. Pittsburgh tied things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Vincent Casale at 17:40 in the third period.

Pittsburgh put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Wooster to score on any of its five power plays. Pittsburgh's offense rang up 45 shots on Wooster's net.

Dominick Glavach also scored for Pittsburgh. In addition, Pittsburgh received assists from James Unger, Adam Schaffer, Anthony Szurlej, and James Stiles, who contributed one each.

Wooster's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 12 minors and one major for 49 minutes in penalty time. Wooster surpassed its season average of 28.0 penalty minutes per game.

Wooster also got a goal from Nick Mooney as well. More assists for Wooster came via Steven Frankel, who had one.

Marcus Gloss recorded 22 saves for Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Joe Morgan made 42 saves for Wooster on 44 shots. Wooster ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Andy Romani was ejected from the game.
