North Iowa downs Alexandria in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

Kohei Sato gave North Iowa a 6-5 (OT) victory over Alexandria when he scored 29 seconds into the extra period.

North Iowa overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. North Iowa fell behind 4-2 after a goal by Alexandria's Logan Norman at 17:27 in the second period. North Iowa tied things up at 5-5 on a goal by Ryan Marciniak at 11:51 in the third period.

Brett Gravelle had two goals to lead North Iowa to victory. Gravelle found the back of the net 13:38 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Alexandria and again while 3:10 into the third to make the score 5-4 North Iowa.

Alexandria was unable to stop North Iowa from sending pucks towards the net, and North Iowa eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. North Iowa gave up more goals than its normal season average. North Iowa averages 1.3 goal allowed per game.

North Iowa also had goals scored by Mitch Parsons, Carmen Dalesandro, and David Min, who each put in one. More assists for North Iowa came via Tommi Ahlgren, Tom Lindgren, Ryan Durant, Adam Orn, Austin Jackson, Marshall Barnes, and Connor Bump, who contributed one each.

Alexandria surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Alexandria averages 2.8 goals per game.

Alexandria was helped by AJ Gullickson, who grabbed one goal. Gullickson scored 4:04 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Tyler Frischmon assisted on the tally. Alexandria additionally got points from Nick Altmann, who also had one goal and one assist and Frischmon, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Alexandria received assists from Mason Hautala and Louis Gerzin, who each chipped in one.

Ahlgren recorded 21 saves for North Iowa. North Iowa incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Alexandria's Brey Effertz stopped 36 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Alexandria incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
