Helena wins tough contest against Great Falls, 3-2

The game between Helena and Great Falls was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Helena emerged with a 3-2 win.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Jay Forbes at 17:42 of the third period.

Helena pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 40 penalty minutes.

Helena was paced by Forbes, who registered one goal.

Helena excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances.

Helena additionally got points from Johnny Bonta, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Brandon Mills also scored for Helena. In addition, Helena received assists from Connor Dunn, who had two and Michael Ballard, Riley Keays, and Blake Babineau, who each chipped in one.

Great Falls was held below its usual level of production. Great Falls puts an average of 4.4 pucks into the net per game. Great Falls kept Helena's goalie busy throughout the game, and Grant Martens made 35 saves on 37 shots. Great Falls found itself short handed often, totaling 20 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

Great Falls was helped by Adam Apangalook, who grabbed one goal. Apangalook scored 10:38 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Great Falls. Tanner Congdon picked up the assist. Great Falls also got points from Congdon, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Great Falls came via Jesse Johnson, who had one.

For Helena, Cody Vanthournout was ejected from the game. Lauren Massie rejected 25 shots on goal for Great Falls.
