West Michigan downs Pittsburgh, 5-2

Mitch Kalleward finished with two points to lead West Michigan to a 5-2 victory over Pittsburgh.

West Michigan kept Pittsburgh's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jacob Stack made 27 saves on 32 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

West Michigan additionally got points from Ryan Price, who also registered one goal and one assist, Trevor Temple, who also had one goal and one assist, and Corey Siwula, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. West Michigan also got a goal from Christian Amend as well. More assists for West Michigan came via Zach Hand and Brendon Block, who contributed one each and Connor Henderson and Dakota Ulmer, who each chipped in two.

Pittsburgh forced West Michigan goalie Samuel Woznicki to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Pittsburgh was helped by Gavin Cummings, who finished with one goal. Cummings scored 3:41 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Pittsburgh. James Unger assisted on the tally. Nicholas Lyon also scored for Pittsburgh. In addition, Pittsburgh received assists from Vincent Casale and James Stiles, who contributed one each.

Woznicki recorded 38 saves for West Michigan. West Michigan incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Pittsburgh incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
