Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Minnesota defeated Twin City in a shootout 3-2 (3-2 SO).

The two teams needed 12 turns to complete the shootout. Twin City got shootout goals from Joe Costello and Luc Kreuser. Minnesota's other shootout goals were scored by Lucas Mickelson and Kyle Wendorf.

Minnesota excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Minnesota kept Twin City's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jon Albers made 29 saves on 32 shots.

Minnesota was helped by Alec Skar, who racked up one goal. Skar scored 1:05 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Minnesota. Wendorf provided the assist. Minnesota also got points from Wendorf, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Minnesota received assists from Wyatt Toll, Tre Opack, and Ryan Conybear, who each chipped in one.

Twin City's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Minnesota power plays. Twin City's offense operated below its season average. Twin City averages 5.2 goals per game.

Twin City was helped by Jay Paul, who had one goal. Paul scored 1:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Twin City. Bennett Witta assisted on the tally. Twin City also got a goal from Costello as well.

Minnesota's Quinn Huff stopped 19 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Minnesota incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Twin City incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
