Toledo uses shootout to best Southern Tier, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Toledo defeated Southern Tier in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

The two teams needed five turns to complete the shootout.

Toledo excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Southern Tier was unable to stop Toledo from sending pucks towards the net, and Toledo eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Toledo was helped by Tristin Snyder, who had one goal. Snyder scored on the power play 7:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toledo. A cross checking penalty on Justin Andriaccio had put Toledo on the power play. David Bogart picked up the assist. Toledo also got points from Bogart, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Toledo received assists from Tyler Zalecki and Austin Turner, who each chipped in one.

Southern Tier was helped by Tait Aptakin, who registered one goal. Aptakin scored 4:36 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Toledo. Andriaccio provided the assist. Elijah Williams also scored for Southern Tier. More assists for Southern Tier came via Curtis Carlson, who had one and Jake Andriaccio, who had two.

Glen Bates rejected 27 shots on goal for Toledo. Toledo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tyler Geloneck recorded 30 saves for Southern Tier. Southern Tier incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
